Overview

Utah is a state in the Mountain West region of the United States. Utah is the 13 largest state by area, 30th most populous and 11th least densely populated of 50 U.S. states. It was admitted to the Union on January 4, 1896, as the 45th U.S. state. Salt Lake City is the capital of Utah. Some of the major cities in Utah are West Valley City, Provo, West Jordan, Orem, Sandy, Ogden, St. George etc.

It is bordered by Colorado to the east, Wyoming to the northeast, Idaho to the north, Arizona to the south and Nevada to the west. Utah is known for its natural diversity ranging from arid deserts with dunes to thriving pine forests in mountain valleys. The state has a diversified economy, with major sectors including transportation, education, information technology and research, government services, mining. For outdoor recreation, it is also a major tourist destination. 

The state is equipped with natural beauty full of beautiful forests, as Utah is the only state where every county contains some national forest. Utah’s temperature is extreme with cold temperatures in winter due to its elevation and very hot and humid summers state-wide with the exception of mountain areas and high mountain valleys. Tourism is a major industry in Utah. With five national parks, Utah has the third most national parks of any state after Alaska and California. 

Some of the beautiful places and great tourist destinations in the state are Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Arches National Park, Salt Lake City, Canyonlands National Park, Lake Powell, Moab, Park City, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.
