Overview

New York State is located in the north eastern United States. On July 26, 1788, New York became the 11th state to ratify the United States Constitution. The state has been described as the cultural, financial and media capital of the world. Additionally, it is a global hub of business and commerce, banking and finance, retailing, world trade, real estate, transportation, tourism, media, advertising, fashion and art. New York City is ranked first among cities across the globe in attracting capital, business, and tourists.

New York is the most populous city in the United States. In 2019, New York City was voted the greatest city in the world because of its cultural diversity. As many as 800 languages are spoken in New York, making it the most linguistically diverse city in the world. The state is also home to the largest number of billionaires of any city in the world. Besides, New York is ranked eighth for its overall education system. The state has over 120 colleges and universities, including two prominent institutions Columbia University and New York University. 

Although the state suffered a great economic damage and the largest loss of human life in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 attacks. But New York has stabilised itself. The area was built with a new World Trade Centre, 9/11 memorial and museum and other new buildings and infrastructure. 

New York state is full of highly attractive and beautiful places. One being the Statue of Liberty on Liberty Island in New York Harbour is a symbol of the United States and its ideals with freedom, democracy and opportunity.

Some of the best places to visit in New York is the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, Empire state building, Time Square, The metropolitan museum of art, One World Trade Centre, 9/11 memorial and museum, Brooklyn Bridge Grand Central Terminal, One World Observatory, New York public library, Wall Street, Bryant Park, St. Patrick’s Cathedral etc.
