Overview

Minnesota is a state in the upper Midwest region of the United States of America. The star of the north and land of 10000 lakes are the state’s two nicknames. The former is taken from the state’s motto, “ L’Etoile du Nord” which is a French wording meaning the star of the north. The latter because there are as many as 20000 lakes in Minnesota. The largest lake is Lake Superior. 

Minnesota became the 32nd U.S state on May 11, 1858. The state is the 12th largest in the area and the 22nd most populous of 50 U.S. states. Minnesota’s standard of living index is among the highest in the United States and the state is among the best educated in the nation.

Saint Paul has been the capital of the Minnesota state since 1858. Saint Paul is the state’s smallest county in terms of area, second-most populous and most densely populated county. The county is adjoining Minnesota’s most populous city, Minneapolis. They and their suburbs are collectively known as the Twin Cities metropolitan area, the country’s 16th- largest metropolitan area. 

Talking about the state’s economy, the biggest industries in Minnesota economy are Agriculture, manufacturing and mining. Tourism has become an important industry in the state. The Minnesota state is famous for its natural and cultural beauty, it’s a mix of wilderness, waterways, hiking trail, and cultural attractions like art museums, historic sites and heritage festivals.
