Overview

The state of Florida is located in the south-eastern region of the United States. On March 3rd, 1845, Florida was admitted as the 27th state of the United States of America. With an area of 170,312 Km2, it ranks 22nd by area and as of 2020 with a population of 21,733,312, it is the third populous U.S. state.

Florida nickname is the “Sunshine State ” but severe weather is a common occurrence in the state. Central Florida is known as the lightning capital of the United states as it experiences more lightning strikes than anywhere else in the country. The capital city of the state is Tallahassee and the most populous municipality is Jacksonville. Florida’s $1.0 trillion economy is the fourth largest of any U.S. state and if it were a country, Florida would be the 16th largest economy in the world. The state’s economy mainly relies on tourism, agriculture and transportation. In 2017, Florida’s per capita income was $47,684, ranking 26th in the nation. 

Much of Florida is a peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean and the straits of Florida. The state has a total of 4,510 Islands.  Additionally, there are diversified wildlife in Florida including Marine mammals, mammals, reptiles, birds, invertebrates etc.

Most probably, some would love to visit and live in a state like Florida. Some of the top sights and tourist destinations in the state are Walt Disney world resort, Everglades national park, magic kingdom park, universal Orlando Resort, Epcot and Disney’s animal kingdom theme park.
