The first U-Haul truck rental company was started by two war veterans and their wives, who noticed the need for more accessible transportation after World War II. The founders knew that people needed moving equipment in order to move themselves as well as their belongings across country; therefore they created an affordable way of owning such a vehicle - at least on paper (you can buy one!).
