In 1936, brothers Frank and Wilfred (Shum) Malet opened a modest warehouse in Downtown Los Angeles. They manufactured their own cleaning supplies that they sold at affordable prices with excellent service. This company philosophy paid off: despite the difficult times of World War II, Empire continued to grow by catering to its customers' needs; it is now one of America's top 20 independent distributors for household cleaners!
