DFCU Financial was born in 1950 as Ford Engineering Employees Federal Credit Union and started with just $5 from each of the seven charter members. In less than 10 years, it had grown to be a billion dollar organization offering nearly 230 thousand members basic services like savings accounts or small consumer loans - all before most people had heard about credit unions!
