Opened in 1987, the Amish Kitchen has been one of Tulsa best kept secrets. Owner Elam Blank was raised Amish in a small community outside of Lancaster, Pa. His family later converted to become Mennonites and incorporated technology into their lives. He moved to Tulsa to Attend Oral Roberts University and liked it so much he stayed.
Originally cooking his family's traditional recipes out of his home kitchen for his wife and friends, his food became so in demand he had to add a second oven to his home to keep up. With their encouragement and help, he soon opened his first location in the Tulsa Jaycees building. That was the beginning of it all.
We offer a wide variety of traditional American foods, such as chicken fried steak, meatloaf and Elam's specially seasoned grilled chicken, and a variety of German food, schnitzels, sausages, sauerbraten and rouladen, so there is something for everyone!
Gluten free sides and entrees are available all the time.
Now you too can come help us write the next chapter for this Tulsa tradition. We look forward to seeing you.
"We have fresh white and wheat loaves today and a new Sausage salad for summer. we look forward to seeing you all!"
