The Oklahoma City-County Health Department and Wellness Now are offering free Total Wellness classes beginning this month.
The classes are designed to help people change their exercise and eating habits so that they lose weight and keep the pounds off.
Participants will learn the basics of good nutrition and the importance of physical activity and discover the key steps for successful weight control, including:
- A method to make easy healthy meals without measuring out portions or following special recipes.
- How to control blood sugar and reduce appetite by eating balanced meals.
- Why physical activity is so important and ways of motivating yourself to make active choices.
- How to take charge of what you eat when dining out.
- How to react to lifestyle changes and slips.
- Tips for enlisting support from family and friends.
Classes will meet for one hour each for 12 weeks. Class size is limited and preregistration is required.
