In a quaint little nook of the Deep Deuce area is one of my favorite restaurants, Sage Gourmet Café & Market. The first time dining here was with a group of friends and we immediately fell in love! The location is excellent and is a good meeting point for friends who live in different areas of town. Plus, it’s close enough to Bricktown yet a little off the beaten path, that it is not overly crowded. It is a small restaurant but in the several times I’ve eaten there, we never had trouble being seated right away. For my first dining experience at Sage, our server was excellent! (I wish I remembered her name!!) She seemed very knowledgeable of the menu and explained different menu items as well as suggested her favorites. And we had quite a few questions…who knew there was such a thing as a “Salt Bar” and that there were so many different types of salt?? She described what each one was like and what foods they were typically paired with and even offered samples for us to taste. First off, we ordered the Hummus and Chips and Salsa for appetizers. The Hummus was very fresh and salsa was delicious! We probably could have filled up on our share of chips, they were so good! For the main course, I ordered the Grilled Ahi Tuna Sandwich with Homemade Potato Salad. This sandwich was really huge, but it was oh-so-tasty! I think the ciabatta bread can be a bit messy but overall, it was one of the best tuna steak sandwiches I’ve had. The potato salad was great, too. Several of my friends ordered the Mac N Cheese dishes for their main course and they each really loved their meals. They looked great and seemed very filling! Another course that looked excellent, and my friend said was great, was the Avocado Seafood Salad. It looked so fresh and not weighed down with heavy dressing like at other places. We had heard rumors that the cupcakes at Sage were to-die for, so we all ordered a Red Velvet cupcake and one ordered the Vanilla Bean. After one bite, we all looked at each other and there were really no words to describe how absolutely yummy the cupcakes tasted!! Since that time, I have also been to Sage during lunch on a weekday and for brunch on the weekend. I highly recommend the Shrimp and Brie Frittata from the brunch menu along with the breakfast potatoes! Overall, this is one of my favorite places in Oklahoma City. The food is healthy, fresh, and light- yet filling. The location is perfect and service is always fast and friendly. The staff seem to be very knowledgeable of the menu and willing to offer suggestions (which means they actually eat the food, too!). And on your way out, you can check out the market for fresh items and yummy desserts. I have nothing but good things to say about Sage Café!!

Sage has half-priced Mac and Cheese on Mondays and Tuesdays - its still a bit more expensive than eating out in a "regular" restaurant but it is so good! I love the garlic and blue cheese (it sounds gross but it is delicious) the Waldorf Salad (that comes with the Mac and Cheese) is of the best quality, the desserts are delicious and fairly reasonable.

They have half priced appetizers between 4 and 7 so I'll often add on some of their wonderful hummus! Their hummus is the perfect texture and has the best flavor! I've had other hummus and I honestly think Sage has the best hummus I have ever had. If you can get it, try the chicken and scallops - I've only managed to get it once but it is something!

I love Sage - I only wish I had to go downtown more often to have an excuse to go!

I thought, 'Kraft has mac and cheese mastered, right?' Wrong! The Sage experience was excellent. The shrimp cocktail, the mac and cheese and the beer were great for a leisurely Saturday afternoon lunch on the patio. One note to domestic beer drinkers - they are apparently phasing out their domestics, so no Bud Light was available.

I had a Greek burger and the meat had amazing flavor to it. There was lots of feta cheese and it was really juicy......and a little messy. Other people at my table had salads or mac and cheese and everyone loved it. The salt bar was a hit. Everyone loved the smoked Bali salt. Finished the meal off with a lemon cupcake......it was fabulous. Great menu.....just think I will wait until the weekend to eat here again when I dont have to go back to work. :)

Right up top, about five dishes of Mac. I had the Roast Beef version and it was amazing. Came with bread, which tasted like it came straight from the grill, and Waldorf salad. Located on the corner, Sage offers a great view for a drink of coffee, a drink of something stronger or a meal. Didn't make it over to the market, but it looked like they sold food as well.... Seriously, you can't beat good Mac and Cheese....
