LEAGUE FOR THE BLIND TURNS 60, CHANGES NAME
OKLAHOMA CITY (Nov. 19, 2009) – Oklahoma League for the Blind, the state’s leading source of employment and rehabilitation for people who are blind and vision impaired, will celebrate its 60th anniversary with a gala event on Saturday, Nov. 21 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Bud Wilkinson Event Center, 4040 N. Lincoln Blvd.
The “60 Years: A Review and a Preview” gala is a formal tribute to the League's six decades of service to Oklahoma, honoring its dedicated employees, volunteers, donors and community partners, and the people the organization exists to support.
The event is free to attend and open to the public. Attendees will witness the unveiling of the League’s new name and brand identity, which OLB President and CEO Lauren White says more accurately reflects the organization’s new energy and vision for the future.
“The decision to change our name after 60 years is a big step forward for us,” White said. “We’re extremely excited about the future of the League, and look forward to sharing our new name first with the people who have helped us to be successful through the years.”
A string quartet from Oklahoma City University will provide entertainment and there will be a special video presentation. Refreshments include wine and cocktails, and heavy hors d’oeuvres.
