The Oklahoma City Orchestra League invites student musicians to participate in its annual Music Olympics competition Feb. 12 at Oklahoma City University.
The competition is open to elementary, middle school and high school students in Oklahoma. The competition is divided into six categories: The Buttram Competition for string players in grades 9-12, the Carver Competition for brass, woodwind, harp and percussion students in grades 9-12, and the Gilliam Competition for pianists in grade eight and younger. The Donna Marie Haire Competition is open to classical guitar students in grades 9-12, the Keith Competition for string players in grade 8 and younger, and the Meinders Competition for pianists in grades 9-12.
Deadline to apply is Jan. 20. Winners in each level will receive a cash prize. A winners concert will be at 3 p.m. Feb. 19 in OCU's Petree Recital Hall, 2501 N Blackwelder.
