A StorySlam is an open mike, competitive storytelling event. There is a theme for each evening’s event, and stories told must somehow relate to the evening’s theme. People can come tell their story, or come and listen to the stories of others. StorySlam attendees are often so jazzed about direct contact with other people that they stay and talk for an hour or two after the stories are “officially” over.

The November theme is “Sibling Rivalry." Thanksgiving is on hand and you will soon be getting together with your family. You are all grown up with kids of your own, but two seconds with your big brother or sister and all those old rivalries may come right back up. Come tell your Sibling Rivalry Story at the next OKC StorySlam.

Participating StorySlammers arrive early to sign up and names are selected at random. StorySlammers will spin tales of 7 minutes or less. The performance should be told rather than read. Creativity is encouraged, truth is optional. Winners are selected by crowd response so bring all of your loud friends!

This open mike event is FREE and anyone is welcome to participate or listen to the stories. However, story content is often geared toward an adult audience. Registration for the Slam begins at 7:00 p.m. and performances begin at around 7:30 pm. The evening will continue until everyone has had a chance to tell a story and the winners have been selected.
