Jump Rope Demonstration by World Champion Peter Nestler (1.5 miles)

Takes place at Cox Convention Center

New to the 2012 Festival is Peter Nestler, World Champion Rope Jumper, presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma. The dynamic jump rope presentation will take place at 3 p.m., so be sure to stick around.

Nestler is a rope master and performs in more than 350 schools per year, where he encourages students to become a champion in life by working hard and studying.

He has also performed in every state in the United States and across the world in countries such as Australia, British Virgin Islands, Cambodia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Kenya, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, South Korea, Sweden, Thailand and Vietnam.

Oklahoma City Orchestra League Music Olympics Competition (1.0 miles)

Takes place at Oklahoma City University

The Oklahoma City Orchestra League invites student musicians to participate in its annual Music Olympics competition Feb. 12 at Oklahoma City University.

The competition is open to elementary, middle school and high school students in Oklahoma. The competition is divided into six categories: The Buttram Competition for string players in grades 9-12, the Carver Competition for brass, woodwind, harp and percussion students in grades 9-12, and the Gilliam Competition for pianists in grade eight and younger. The Donna Marie Haire Competition is open to classical guitar students in grades 9-12, the Keith Competition for string players in grade 8 and younger, and the Meinders Competition for pianists in grades 9-12.

Deadline to apply is Jan. 20. Winners in each level will receive a cash prize. A winners concert will be at 3 p.m. Feb. 19 in OCU's Petree Recital Hall, 2501 N Blackwelder. The concert is free and open to the public. To review audition requirements and submit an application, go to www.okcphilharmonic.org/young-musicians.
