Kyle Roberts, owner of the Oklahoma City-based film company Reckless Abandonment Pictures, directed a James Bond parody starring some of the top YouTube celebrities; DaneBoe, Brittani Lousie Taylor, and Zack Scott. Local comedian and actor Lucas Ross also stars in the film.
A premiere party titled “Can’t Stop This Motion” will be held on May 19th at IAO Art Gallery, 701 W. Sheridan Downtown OKC, starting at 7:30. The event is $5 and will feature several of Roberts’ short films as well as musical guest, Oklahoma City-based artist, Denver Duncan.
Battle of the Bonds, a stop-motion short film, took Kyle Roberts over 8 months to complete. “Since it’s all stop motion, move take a picture, move take a picture… I basically had to have 4 or more hours at a time to shoot the project, that would be equivalent to 3 seconds of the film not including all of the special effect” said Roberts.
The short film was shot primarily on green screen with images of Quartz Mountain in southwest Oklahoma later placed in the background. “I love that area of southwest Oklahoma, I remembered seeing the place with the bridge and thought it was perfect for this film.” Roberts said.
Roberts teamed up with Speeding Bullet Comics of Norman and The Toy and Action Figure Museum in Pauls Valley to fund this film.
