Reviews for Bolero Spanish Grill & Tapas Bar

All the reviews on here are very old. This place is amazing! The food is top notch and you can't find a better bar atmosphere anywhere in OKC. I love stopping in before a movie. This is a locally owned restuant and it shows. The staff and owners really care about the customers. The owner is there all the time and he is more than willing to answer any questions you have about the place or the food.

You have to try the golden fried goat cheese and the cuban sandwich! Also, thier sangria is the best out there.

This place was so-so. Not too impressed, but I'd give it another chance. We went during the lunch hour, and when we arrived at noon we were the only ones in the restaurant. There were a few people in the bar, but I was surprised by how few patrons they had at lunch, especially since they are in Bricktown. Much of the menu is in Spanish and some in our group did not understand what many of the items were. However, the waitress was nice and explained the menu to us. The tapas was by far the best part of the meal. My favorite was the shrimp with cheese. The chorizo tapas was dry. Empanadas were pretty good but there was very little filling. The entrees were so-so. I ordered the pork tamales and while the presentation was great, the meat lacked flavor. The beans were also bland but the rice was amazing. I would like to have had more rice on my plate. There definitely wasn't enough to mix with the beans. Dessert was also great. I had a slice of cheesecake with fresh strawberry topping. The cheesecake was made with goat cheese - unique taste, great flavor! However, there were too few strawberries and the portion was too large for one person to finish. I recommend sharing it. I love the tables and the decorations, but the music didn't line up with the atmosphere. I was expecting Spanish or jazz music - instead, I heard heavy metal and rock music during my meal. It was distracting. If you plan to go, I recommend foregoing the entrees. Get tapas and dessert. That is definitely where this restaurant shines.

Went before a ballgame this week and place was nearly empty. They have expanded their outside seating, but the tables in the bar area were dirty, menu was dirty, white sangria was not nearly as good as last time - too much citrus flavor and fizzy. The Red Sangria is much better. They do have a variety of tapas, the calamari was good and has a much better sauce now, similar to a salsa verde. But if it wasn't for the fried goat cheese I probably wouldn't go back. If I ever have a need to have a last meal, it would consist mostly of their fried goat cheese.

Goat cheese, meatballs (giant) and shrimps were really good. Sangria was excellent. Honestly, the lunch menu is better than dinner from my experience. Cuban sandwich rules. But I had no complaints from dinner either.

From the minute they sat us at a dirty table and handed us the greasy menu's we should have got up and left!!!! I had been there a few times having drinks at the bar, waiting on our table at In The Raw and even if we had a hard time then getting the bartenders attention for our check I still thought we should give the place a try for dinner. I have never been so wrong! The decor looks like the inside of a life long bachelor's house, empty with nothing to it but a few TVs. The food well lets say I've had better fried food at the ballpark across the street which is where I suggest you go if you are looking for better service! Everything on the menu is over priced and greasy (that explains the menu's) and yes even the salad is topped with pure oil. Our server had no idea what was even on the menu! She continually snatched our menu's out of our hands to look every time we asked about anything. After drinking on a few over priced watered down super sour margarita's ($15 without tax) it had been 32 min before we even got our first order of Tapas! By the way skip the aioli sauce all together what should be a garlic, lime, cilantro/mayonnaise is nothing more but a huge glob of mayo they slap on your plate! Once our main course arrived 45-50 Min's later the server argued with one of my friends over what she had ordered as to what the waitress brought. The waitress brought my friend Paella (a huge pan for two people with a mix of sea food and rice) in which while going over the menu with the waitress my friend explained she was allergic to shell fish that's why she ordered the Pollo de Mojo (roasted chicken) When the manager finally came over to talk to us he was to busy looking down our shirt's to even have the courtesy to act half professional or even pretend he was listening what we were saying! He offered us dessert after he gave us a loser pick up line 'that he used to bartend at some place or the other doe's he know us because we all look so familiar" This place is a joke! The service is bad they can't handle more that four people the food is worse the management is sleazy! Just because it's in a good location with a nice view doesn't mean it's great read a few reviews don't waste your time or money if you are looking for great tapas check out Tom & Jerry's!
