Big Truck Tacos is good, maybe even very good. What it isn't is great and certainly not worth the national attention it is getting. The pros are plenty, good quality fresh "taco truck" style mexican food in an air conditioned (non-taco truck style) welcoming enviroment. The taco sauces on the table are delish and I have not had a thing on the menu yet that didn't please my palet. What I am questioning here is how "authentic" is it really? If you call, you get an machine (press 1 for..), you can only get domestic 3.2 beer (YUCK!), they are not a member of any "keep it local" type networks. The prices will definitely NOT remind you of a taco truck, and makes me question their street cred. Overall, very good restaurant who has met a need in OKC, I eat there about once a month and it is a great late saturday lunch spot. But best in OKC? Not quite....

I gotta say I loved this place. Great food, fun staff. nice atmosphere. This past weekend however, I had a surprise (unwanted) in my taco. I don't really want to mention exactly what it was, but I'll have a difficult time eating there again. Anyone want a $10 coupon they gave me for my next meal there? I don't think I'll be using it.

If you don't want to fight the masses at Iguana on Tuesday then go to Big Truck Taco. There's still a crowd on Tuesday but not as bad and the food is great. Be sure to try these three:

  1. Sam I Am
  2. Thunder Burrito
  3. Naughty Queso

Nothing has any flavor, much less any spiciness. Service - Apathetic at best. My first visit there the order-taker was rude. My second visit there, employees were just apathetic. They give the impression they couldn't care less whether you are there or not. Cleanliness - My first visit my salad plate had leftover food stuck to the bottom of it.

Formerly a small drive-in that gets really cramped during the lunc...  Read full review Formerly a small drive-in that gets really cramped during the lunc rush, but this is authentic Mexican fare, right down to the hickory-smoked tongue taco called the Flaming Lips. The Guardian, a taco with ground bison and picadillo, is excellent. The crispy'cado (fried avacado) was pretty good, I hear the Mexican chicken soup is pretty tasty and the serve real Mexican Coca-Cola. Worth standing in line for.

Two different visits - still no spectacular visit. Visit number one...  Read full review Two different visits - still no spectacular visit. Visit number one left me with a 45 minute wait for one taco, and I ended up having to give up the wait because I had to go back to work. Visit number two left me with somewhat of a tough carne asada taco. The flavor was good, but the texture left something to be desired. Maybe the 3rd times the charm?

Tasty Austin, Texas-style tacos If you've ever eaten at Torchy's...  Read full review Tasty Austin, Texas-style tacos If you've ever eaten at Torchy's Tacos in Austin, or you just crave some really good street-vendor style Mexican food where you can get everything from fried avacado to skirt steak to roast tongue, Big Truck Tacos at NW 23 and Dewey is a place you should check out. The Rancher, brisket taco and the Okie Baha fish tacos were outstanding. Breakfast tacos, look really tasty as well. There is limited parking and seating in this crowded just-opened atmosphere, but it's worth it. And the absence of a drive-thru gives it a much cooler community-type atmosphere, where you have to crowd in with other hungry taco seekers and possibly even share a table. Bottom line: Great food, cool atmosphere and really good price. And be sure and try the Mexican Coca-Cola - "It's just better."
