Join us on Saturday the 11th while we spend some time with two of this month's featured artists. The renowned oil painter, Mike Wimmer, will give a demonstration of some of his techniques, and Jason Cytacki will discuss his dramatic, large-scale oil paintings of action figure dioramas. This event is free and open to the public.

Mike Wimmer was born and raised in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Though he didn’t pursue a formal art education in his youth, Wimmer worked as an apprentice for the famous illustrator, Don Ivan Punchatz, where he honed his talents. Now an accomplished illustrator and artist, Mike has created the new, more kind and gentle “Mr. Clean,” the cover for The Lion King Soundtrack, many award-winning children’s book covers, and large historic murals in the Oklahoma Capitol Building. Mike has been commissioned to create artwork for American Airlines, Proctor & Gamble, Reader’s Digest, Disney, Kimberly Clark, Southwestern Bell and AT&T.

Jason Cytacki is the new Assistant Professor of Painting at Oklahoma University. Jason earned his B.F.A. from Indiana University South Bend in 2003, and his M.F.A. from the University of Notre Dame in 2011. His research examines the American character and its construction through history, popular culture and mythology. Utilizing characters and images drawn from popular culture, he explores the way Americans view themselves and their country. His recent work has dealt extensively with exploring Frontier mythology, in particular the continued importance in the popular imagination.

Marred by financial setbacks, marital problems, casting problems, and, of course, there was that little matter of the MURDER at the Awards Ceremony, many thought that this movie just wasn’t happening! In spite of it all, Otto managed to pull it off; with a new business partner, new star (kind of a package deal), same wife, etc. Anyway, please join us, Darling! About the Performance Troupe:
The WHODUNIT DINNER THEATRE has been presenting comedy murder mystery plays with an audience interaction format since January 1991. Based in Oklahoma City, the gypsy company has performed all over the state of Oklahoma as well as in Arkansas and Texas. Productions have seven to nine characters, portrayed by our actors, who, during the course of the play, involve audience members by dropping clues, inviting them to act as judges in various contests, or asking for audience participation in specific events. Towards the end of the evening, guests are given the opportunity to vote on who they think “done it” and why. Audience participation is strictly voluntary, and our shows are designed to be equally entertaining for those who choose to just sit back and watch. Our productions are always PG rated and suitable for the entire family. All of our plays are originals, written by Oklahoma playwright, Earline Cottet. We present several different plays each year. Our regular season runs from early October to late May and we present a limited summer season in June, July & August. And, of course, we do private shows all year long!

This workshop focuses on handling different light situations and composition. Subjects covered include artificial light, natural light, flash photography, and how to handle low light situations. The basics of artistically composing photographs also will be discussed. Students should bring a point and shoot or DSLR camera.
