Kids in first through fifth grade who are wild about science and nature will want to sign up now for Spike's Club, an after-school program offered by the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History. Spike’s Club is held one day a week from 4 to 6 p.m., beginning the week of Sept. 7, and focuses on investigating the natural world and discovering the amazing stories unfolding all around us. Registration for both the fall and winter sessions is underway now.
Club participants explore museum galleries, study objects from the museum collections, play games and get creative with craft and science projects. The cost is $35 per session for museum members or $45 per session for non-members. Sessions are six weeks in length. Each participant also will receive a Spikes Club T-shirt with their registration.
Students also may sign up now for the Spike’s club winter sessions which will focus on mythology. Participants will discover the myths, legends and history of different cultures and even create a myth of their own. Session III (for grades 1 and 2) will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays, Jan. 5 through Feb. 9.
