The UCLA Marina Aquatic Center is one of the premiere small boat sailing facilities in California and the home base for UCLA Sailing. Hundreds of students attend classes each year learning to sail in dinghies. The UCLA MAC teaches in the Catalina 14.2, International Laser and Vanguard 15.

The UCLA Sailing Club was established in 1945 as the "Tiller and Sail Club." In 1965 ground was broken at the current UCLA MAC to replace the Wooden Boat House on La Ballona Creek. In 1967 a Cinder block Boat House was built and UCLA sailing moved in. Instruction was originally run by the sailing club but in 1981 the UCLA Recreation Department took over. Currently over 500 new adult sailors are created at the UCLA MAC each year.
Classes in small boats are offered to UCLA students, affiliates and members of the boating community.
