Roses for Dummies workshop, 9:30 a.m. to noon June 1, Will Rogers Garden Exhibition Center, 3400 NW 36, Oklahoma City.

Learn how to select roses for low maintenance and specific roles in the landscape. Materials will cover everything from miniature roses to climbers.

Class will visit the Charles E. Sparks Rose Garden to observe roses firsthand.

Hooked on Fishing (1.6 miles)

Takes place at Edwards Park Lake

Little anglers love the annual "Hooked on Fishing" free summer fishing clinics. Instructors teach anglers age 5-15 how to tie knots, cast lines, identify fish and much more. Parents are asked to accompany children under 13.

No equipment needed. Fishing permits not required during class. Classes run 8-10 a.m.

The Computer Club of Oklahoma City ("ccokc") is a non-profit organization that offers classes, study groups and workshops for anything computer related you might want to learn. Come try out our Mobile Communications Study Group (on the second Friday of each month at 1:30pm) to learn more about your new smart phone. Every Thursday morning from 10:00 -1200 we have a study group especially designed for seniors. Our Genealogy study group meets on the second Saturday of each month at 9:00. Nature Explorers Preschool Program (1.6 miles)

Takes place at Oklahoma City Zoo and happens every Tuesday through Thursday

Does your little one love the Zoo? Then enroll them in the Oklahoma City Zoo’s “Nature Explorers Preschool” program and watch their love for animals and nature grow.

Our preschool program is designed for three to five year olds and takes place September 4, 2012 through May 23, 2013. Parents have the option of having their child attend class on Tuesday and Thursday OR on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The price for two days a week is $195/month, and for three days a week the price is $245/month. There is a $50 enrollment fee. All classes are held from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Zoo’s Rosser Conservation Education Center.

Nature Explorers Preschool was created to provide a Zoo setting to assist parents and guardians in the development of their preschool child in a safe environment which encourages children to develop physically, socially, intellectually and environmentally. The objectives of the program are to encourage interaction skills, self-direction, language skills, intellectual growth and environmental awareness.

The daily schedule for participating children includes free play times, snacks, activities, outside time and nature walks around the Zoo. The classrooms will also host exciting and educational visits from some of the Zoo’s favorite animal ambassadors. Children are asked to bring their own sack lunch daily.

All Zoo personnel have completed an OSBI background check, and the Zoo has EMTs and First Responders on grounds at all times. For more information about the Nature Explorers Preschool program, call (405) 425-0257.
