We are pleased to announce the second year of Canvas, a custom painted Van's art show. Last year, over 100 local artists participated in this urban style art auction. Local artists were given a blank pair of "old school" Van's to customize and display, for the night of the show. The shoes were offered for silent auction during the event. 75% of the proceeds from the sales went to the artist and 25% went to the city's After School Arts program. Over 1000 people attended last year's event.This year we expect the same success but with a much larger attendance. DJ Diverse is the headlining DJ, local break dancers will be adding live entertainment. A cash bar will be available as well as food from local restaurants. A live art mural will be created throughout the course of the evening, with all proceeds benefiting the After School Arts program.
This year's Canvas show will take place on June 6, from 7pm-12am, at 1015 N. Broadway (on the second floor above Coffee Slingers and Bicycle Alley). Bidding closes at 11:00pm. Tickets will go on sale Monday, May 19. Ticket prices are $7 in advance and $10 at the door. Ticket outlets include: ,Shoe Gypsy, Guestroom Records, both Norman and Oklahoma City locations, Blue7, and Dwelling Spaces in Tulsa.
