The Downtown Edmond Business Association is very
excited to announce a new feature to this year’s arts
festival – Alley Art, located east of Festival Market Place.
Dr. Bob Palmer, award winning painting and photography
professor at UCO will be the 2008 Arts Festival Celebrity
Artist. Dr. Palmer was selected as the feature muralist,
for Oklahoma’s 100th birthday, by the Centennial Commission.
Palmer will paint a mural, during the Downtown Edmond
Arts Festival, on the Weathers TV building’s North wall.
Dr. Palmer original painting of an “Asian Day Lily will be
sold as well as numbered prints and the theme for the
arts festival t-shirts. Dr. Palmer has painted over 600
murals throughout the state of Oklahoma, including
several in Edmond. Most of the murals in Bricktown
are original works of Dr. Palmer and his team.
His work can be seen internationally in Canada,
and Eastern Europe.
UCO students, under the direction of Dr. Bob Palmer
will be painting murals during the arts festival on the
back of the buildings between 2nd and 1st Streets.
The alley is adjacent to The Festival Market Place.
The 2008 Downtown Edmond Arts Festival is located
in historic Downtown Edmond from 2nd and Broadway
north to Broadway and Hurd. It also includes the
Festival Market Place and Plaza.
No animals will be allowed at the arts festival due to
health department ordnances.
The Eddy, Edmond’s trolley will have special routes to
accommodate festival-goers’.
