Grades/Ages: ADULT/TEEN

In this class the student will learn to paint the still-life using oils in the tradition of classical realism. Direct observation and understanding of the subject are key elements of painting in this method and through instructor demonstration, lecture, individual instruction and practice, students will learn the step-by-step process of constructing the painting. The beginning weeks of the class will consist of learning to draw accurately, completing color and tonal studies and color mixing. In the remaining time the student will complete several still-life paintings beginning with simple subjects and advancing to the more complicated subject. With this method of study the student will learn to translate the beauty of light, form and color to the painting surface. 4 weeks. (NO CLASSES ON OCTOBER 16 OR NOVEMBER 20)
