Bright Night of Grossology (5.9 miles)

Takes place at Science Museum Oklahoma

Beginning at 6 p.m., Bright Night attendees, children and adults alike, will explore the really gross science of the human body. Humans aren’t the only gross ones - our arthropod friends can be pretty disgusting too! How much snot does your body make in a day? How exactly do flies eat hamburgers and is bread really made from yeast farts? All of this and more will be revealed at the Bright Night of Grossology. Although the event will last all night, guests who prefer their own bed are welcome to stay late and head home at their leisure. Select museum areas are available as sleeping quarters for families who want to experience a full night at the museum.

2012 Day of Champions Football Camp (11.1 miles)

Takes place at Southlakes Sports Complex


The Day of Champions Football Camp is led by Coach Ken Heupel, The Staff includes Coaches and Players from various Colleges, Universities, and the National Football League.

The camp features special guest coach Josh Heupel, quarterback of the 2000 National Champion Sooners and offensive coordinator at the University of Oklahoma.

Those who attend the camp will receive mentoring and coaching in athletics, health, fitness and life choices. They will focus on the four principles of leadership:

Critter Camp at Free To Live Animal Sanctuary (7.9 miles)

Takes place at Free to Live Inc

Critter Camp will be held June 18, 19, 21 & 22 from 9 a.m. to noon each day.

At Critter Camp your children can learn all about animals through art, games, videos and hands on activities. Children who attend can also be pet ambassadors to their schools and neighborhoods by teaching others what they learn.

Critter Camp is a week of fun and learning highlighted by a Pizza Party and Critter Camp T-shirts on June 22.

Jr. Master Gardeners Camp (4.8 miles)

Takes place at Myriad Botanical Gardens

Young garden enthusiasts between the ages of 7-12 are invited to get down and dirty while they learn about the world of nature around them at the Myriad Botanical Gardens.

Campers will discover various native Oklahoma trees and learn how to identify them by their bark and they will get the dirt on different kinds of soil that plants live in. Campers will emerge from the week with a better understanding of how rain forests impact their lives, how plants and animals survive in their differing habitats, and with the ability to plant their own vegetable garden.

The Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory will become a mysterious world of discovery during a special rain forest scavenger hunt and a variety of craft projects will reinforce what they have learned.

Rec N Roll Park Play Program (3.3 miles)

Takes place at Nick Harroz Midwest City Community Center and happens every Monday through Friday

Midwest City's Rec N Roll Park Play Program will begin May 29 for children ages 6 to 11 (campers) and 12 to 14 (Jr. counselors).

Enrollment is now open at the Nick Harroz Community Center, 200 N Midwest Blvd.

The cost is $50 for the sessions, which run May 29 - Aug. 3. Sessions are from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1 to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

Camp Information:
Camp hours are Monday – Friday, 9:00am - 4:00pm. Your child will need a sack lunch, drinks, and two snacks Monday – Thursday. Pizza Day is offered on Friday for an additional $6. It includes pizza, drinks, and two snacks.

Before & After Care is available for parents for an additional $6 per day, per child. Starting at 8:00am and ending at 6:00pm Monday through Thursday. Before care is available on Friday. After care is not available on Friday.

Students learn the basic skills of tennis with exercises and games in hand-eye coordination and movement games. This class uses the Quickstart format of larger foam balls, lower nets and smaller courts.

Students learn the basic strokes and begin to rally the ball with each other to build consistency and confidence. This class uses low compression balls, lower nets and smaller courts. Drills and games will be used to emphasize proper technique and footwork.

Students focus on groundstrokes, volleys and serves. Drills and games will be used to simulate playing situations. Court positioning and strategy will be taught.

The Jewish Federation of Greater OKC is offering its 25th year of Camp Chaverim this summer for children ages 2 to 13. It offers a range of summer experiences for kids of all ethnic backgrounds and abilities.

There are three sessions at Temple B'nai Israel, 4901 N Pennsylvania, Oklahoma City.

Embracing with adventure, Camp DaKaNi gives boys and girls a chance to experience nature through archery, canoeing, hiking, rock-climbing, fishing, sing-a-longs, games and more on 33 wooded acres. The camp is operated by Camp Fire USA.

Takes place at First Christian Church of OKC and happens every Monday through Friday

Artworks is a summer arts day camp in Oklahoma City for 8 – 12 year olds designed to help students learn and develop artistic skills. The comprehensive summer camp includes:

Classes are taught by a professional faculty of artists and teachers.
