Lyric Theatre Thelma Gaylord Academy Spring Semester Productions (5.7 miles)

Takes place at Lyric at the Plaza

Members of Lyric Theatre's Thelma Gaylord Academy will present its 2012 spring semester productions of “Sweeney Todd,” “Aladdin Jr.” and “Theo and the Magic Road.”

Students in grades 8 to 12 will stage “Sweeney Todd” at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, as well as 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday at the Plaza Theatre, 1725 NW 16.

Academy students in grades 2 to 7 will present Disney's “Aladdin Jr.” at 7 p.m. May 4, as well as 2 and 7 p.m. May 5.

The Academy's third RoKademY presentation of “Theo and the Magic Road” will be staged at 2 and 7 p.m. May 26.

Joann McMillian’s Flying Heart Theatre will perform a puppet show entitled “Wynken, Blynken, Venus, Neptune and Mars” on Thursday, June 7, at 2:00 p.m. Free tickets will be distributed on a first come basis beginning Thursday, May 31. “Wynken, Blynken, Venus, Neptune and Mars” puppet performance is sponsored by the Friends of the Mustang Library Endowment Fund and the Oklahoma Arts Council. Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park invites students ages 13 to 18 to participate in its 2012 Young Company Theatre Camp, a week-long event that explores the Bard's expressive language, acting, historic context and public performance. The curriculum will also include workshops in stage combat and swordsmanship.

The camp, scheduled July 16 to 20, will be held at the Myriad Gardens' Water Stage. Cost is $275 for the week.
