Relay For Life of Oklahoma City (7.2 miles)

Takes place at Southern Nazarene University-Cypert Athletic Complex

Relay for Life is a bit different from the health walks, 5K runs and half-marathons that are common this time of year. Those usually start in the early morning and end by noon. Relay for Life starts at 7 p.m. and keeps going through the night.

The event benefits the Oklahoma City chapter of the American Cancer Society. Participants aren't racing so much as they're persevering - which is precisely what cancer patients do.

Throughout the evening, teams of walkers will circle the track at the Southern Nazarene University sports complex. Participants form teams and solicit donations, tagging in and out as weariness sets in.

The walk begins at 7 p.m. June 15, and lasts until 7 a.m. June 16. It will be held at the sports complex at NW 50 and N Stinchcomb Avenue.

For more information or to sign up, go to www.relayforlife.org/okcok.
