Saturday and Sunday, June 16 & 17 | 10am - 4 pm | $120

INSTRUCTOR: KELLI FOLSOM

With still life as the subject matter, this course will focus on painting in the chiaroscuro tradition by way of “alla prima,” or working wet into wet. The focus will be to achieve the maximum amount of depth and brilliancy of light, maintain rich color and achieve a sense of air in the paintings. Students will learn to utilize brush handling and paint quality to their advantage as they lay down the paint. A look at the masters of chiaroscuro painting, both past and present, will allow for discussions on compositional design, value control and color strategy. All levels welcome.

Handbuilding Dynamic Pieces for the Tabletop

Stoneware by Annie Chrietzberg.

Saturday and Sunday, August 25-26 | 10am - 5 pm | $140

INSTRUCTOR: ANNIE CHRIETZBURG

Spend a weekend with Annie Chrietzberg making FUNctional pots for your tabletop pleasure. Annie is a dedicated handbuilder, although she does use the wheel a bit both to make parts for some of her pots as well as to make simple molds to get things started. She rolls out slabs of clay, imprints them with texture, uses templates for consistency, and turns the flat slabs into dynamic voluminous pots. She formulates and makes all of her glazes, and, don’t be fooled by the bright colors, the work is made of stoneware! In her workshops, Annie shares the tricks that she has honed in her own studio practice, from the creation and use of templates and simple molds, to the gathering and use of textures, to the fussy little details that make
handbuilt work truly shine.
